I've said before that I'm a avid fan for board games & such, wondering if anyone else enjoys them now & then.

I tend to enjoy the small faster games more often, but I do have a couple longer games that I love to crack open & play too. Although my only problem with that is can never organize a time where everyone has a day off to come do so.

Also found pic of my current collection I have.
My collection:

I do plan to get some more in the future, biggest one on my list is the old version of Formula De, as it has a ton of tracks for it. Only problem with that is the company that used to make it doesn't anymore, so it will be an expensive purchase to get them all.

Dang. Wish you could make it to AX. We wanted board games for the Hotel room. Doom board game!? I didn't even know that existed. I'm a big fan of the old Doom games. How does it play?

Yeah, someday I may have life settled enough to do travels.

The way Doom plays is quite fun, up to 4 people can play, 3 being the unfortunate subjects lucky winners & one being the 'DM' as it were. The base game has I think about 5 or so campaigns to go through, with each later one getting harder & harder. The fun thing about this is there is a ton of custom made campaigns online that can be used too, the book that comes with the game is just a suggestion to become familiar with the game.

All the marines start out exactly the same, although there is a perk deck that has some added bonuses they can have (IE more armor, better aim, faster movement). Depending on how many people playing will denote how many perks they get, with a chance to 'buy' more if they survive a campaign or not.

The board itself gets reveled as the marines explore, which is good & bad, since while they can find more items to help them out, it also allows the DM more room to spawn creatures to kill them. However, the game is fair-ish as the DM just can't summon a ton of things right off the bat to gank the marines. The DM has a hand of cards he can use to either hinder the marines (like swapping a health kit with some ammo, or close a door to trap one with a bunch of nasties) or he can summon monsters or boost their abilities for a turn. Way the summon happens is if the marines don't have a line of sight on it, it can spawn (which yes, can be behind them).

Outside of that, there is an unique dice set to govern attack rolls & attack range, with each weapon having it's own certain dice you roll for it. It is listed on the info board each marine has, as well as info on all the monsters you'll see & their attack rolls. That also serves as a way to count how many each marine has killed too, since every monster has its own listed point value to it. If they survive a campaign & go onto the next one, they can spend the points for supplies, either ammo, health, new guns, or a new perk if they wish & have enough for.

I may take some pics of the game if I'm not too lazy to go downstairs to bring it up. For now, I can point you to a site with maybe better info. Board Game Geek
There is an expansion I would like to get one day as well, although it would take a while on that since I'd want to paint them so they match my set I have for the base game.

I remember back in college I was invited to DnD sessions but I always opted out because I just want to go home and stream..

Generally how long does a game last on average for these types of board games?

Dnd and other tabletop RPGs can last from 4-5 hours, depending on party size and complexity of campaign.

Personally I am fan of Pathfinder as a more optimised version of Dnd 3.5 and Gm'd a lot.

It really depends on what type of game you are playing, & the campaign that is set up. Usually about an hour for some games, with more complex ones taking up 5-6 hours counting teaching rules & whatnot. I generally stay away from the lengthy games like that since not everyone has the time for it or it doesn't hold enough interest for them to play that long.

The only board game I have now is Go. And I don't think anyone here plays that.
