Favorite Visual Novel
I'm curious about what other VN titles are out there since I've never seen anything outside of BL, honestly. So, you guys should post one you've enjoyed and if you want a brief reason why the story is alright. KEEP IT CLEAN.
(Mine is Togainu No Chi btw. I love gore and guts in anime so I was totally into it. AHAHA)

Re: Favorite Visual Novel
I'll not count the 999 series because those technically count as video games...
Luckily the same team did Ever 17 and I loved that VN. SO EVER 17 FOR ME. An honorable mention to Planetarian. It was my first VN and you never forget your first.

I bet you're getting that LE of that Steins;Gate coming out. I'll actually play that myself too!
Re: Favorite Visual Novel
I don't think I've ever experienced a visual novel for myself. I've seen other people play them obviously... maybe I should try some for myself sometime.

Re: Favorite Visual Novel
Gore & guts huh? If you like that might like Saya no Uta, it's an interesting read.
I'm still kinda new to visual novels myself, even though I have a ton on my hard drive now, I keep getting distracted with other things. I'll just list a couple that I plan to get around to myself, with links to a site that has a synopsis on them.
Fate/Stay Night - Probably one of the big ones people will take of, & has a huge fanbase behind the whole series. I've read it myself & quite enjoyed it, it's pretty cool seeing the situation the main character gets tossed into that questions his beliefs.
Rewrite is another one that usually has high praises for, going along with the same emotional aspect that you can get from Clannad
Umineko no Naku Koro ni is one I plan on getting to soon, as I've heard the way it plays out the story is very well done. Also the music is pretty good too.
Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! is neat in the aspect that it doesn't shun the other ladies once you are on one route, (ie all the other girls disappear once you pick one girl) as is the case with most other visual novels. The interaction of everyone in the cast is cool overall, & the neat thing is with the sequel Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! S is that you could continue to stay with the route you had from the first game, or start anew.
I have to mention Katawa Shoujo since it was the first one I played. Quite interesting to think that this one actually started out as a picture & thoughts from the minds of 4chan.
There is also a chart of recommend stuff for new people over on Reddit in the visual novel subreddit if you are looking for other things.

^This
But I've never played it
Never had the money to buy it. I will, in the near future, though. And I'll stream it.
My favorite one that I played is either Nanolife (free) or Yandere-chan (free as well).
Favorite non-doujin VN that I've played are
Re: Favorite Visual Novel
I've heard some good things about Saya no Uta so I probably will check it out. I remember my friend begging me to play Umineko no Naku Koro ni with ps2 graphics, I think? I remember she said it was suuuuper good.
But I'll for sure check out the reddit! I didn't even know there was one so I guess I'm pretty informed now. AHAHAHA.

Re: Favorite Visual Novel
My first one was Say no Uta. Didn't know what I was getting into at the time. My old Skype contact cried at the ending. His explanation didn't help me either. But my favorites have to be by Yuzu-soft. Dracu-riot or Amairo Islenauts.

Happy to help. Seeing how my net has been, I should just start them up & read em all myself.

Narcissu. Depressing, but absolutely beautiful. It's actually a kinetic novel, but... it's seriously just... wow.
Honourable mention for me goes to Clannad.

Got a soft spot for Analogue: A Hate Story, the first 'real' VN I played (and one of a rare breed of western developed VNs)
I am of course, not counting things like Layton and Phoenix Wright - the line between VN and point and click adventure is thin, if you're basing it on mechanics
